Heh, I used to get nervous on first dates. But now that I've done so many I try to carry an air of confidence when I meet someone. As the date progresses and I either see chemistry or lack of, my attitude will change too. I've done the feigning of a cell phone call to get out of a bad first date. Hmm, that will make a good story for the blog!
I only get nervous if I don't know the guy I'm going on a date with.
Blind dates give me a serious case of the butterflies.
Unfortunately I haven't completely mastered tact yet.
Like once I went on a really bad date. Or, at least, it was a really bad date to me.
He was so into me. He was really flustered - like pulling in behind parked cars in the "turning lane" and wondering why the cars weren't moving.
When he dropped me off and started to give me the "I had a really good time" speech, so he could go in for the kiss, I was in panic.
I jumped out of the car while he was in midsentence and was like: "Okay, thanks. Bye."
I crushed a lot of guys when I was younger. But it's only because I panic, which leads to the lack of tact.
But I'd like to think I'm getting better on this. I haven't crushed anyone with my panic in the last four years. But being a recovering lack-of-tact person is like being in a 12-step program, you can fall off the wagon at any time.
