How far does your job carry you in the world of dating?
Do doctors have easier times finding dates than funeral directors?
Some people would find a funeral director just plain creepy. It wouldn't matter how nice a person the funeral director was.
There are a few male television reporters who think telling women what they do is a good pick-up line. "That's right baby. I'm on TV."
And many a woman likes a man in uniform, unless she has a criminal record, a problem with authority or political views opposing military operations.
Are we education snobs? Do high school drop outs have a tougher time in the dating world? Do people with more than one university degree have an easier time picking up?
How much of what we do for a living plays into who we date?

I don't mean to sound shallow... ok, maybe I do... but I love it when I can brag on my guy's job.
'oh, I'm dating so and so... and he's a such and such...'
hmm... could I date a garbage man? a plumber?
I think it has a lot more to do with level of education compatability.
What a person decides to do, and is capable of doing, for most of her or his waking adult life gives fundamentally important information about a person's character.
I think it's different for men vs women. A hot woman, can date whoever she wants - usually someone with money - whether she is a lawyer or a tanning salon attendant. A man, usually can't date above his 'social job status (SJS)'. But once again, it usually comes down to money - women date up, men date down.
There are three types of men in the world: artists, players, and normal. I'm artist-normal-player. That makes me poor right now, but full of earning power. What's stupid is when a potential mate expects instant gratification, rather than committing to a relationship in which they build a future together, which is what life is all about. Lounging in the sun all day as a trophy spouse is tantamount to intelklectual suicide. Fez
I wouldn't be interested in a woman, however pretty, unless she was very intelligent, confident , articulate, and ambitious. Any person with those four qualities would almost certainly have a good job.
I'd never date an underdog with a huge ego. -Fez
I don't know MJ. The best relationship I ever had was with a guy who wasn't as educated as me.
Is it Coatman? I don't know. Some people just want to pay their bills and will work anywhere.
I guess that too says a lot about a person.
True enough married guy.
Yeah Fez. I've found that problem too.
No one wants to build a future together these days. It can be about instant gratification.
Just ask that certain Jasper guy I used to date. He was not willing to build. I'm still bitter towards him.
So, DL, would you date gynecologist?
Well, I'm a woman in uniform, which makes it nearly impossible for me to get a date. I think many men are intimidated by it.
And as far as men in uniform... the guys I work with are almost all married and are total dogs. If only their wives knew what they were up to.
pgh,
I don't know. I've never met one before really.
Julie,
I've met at least one man who said more than once he is a sucker for a woman in uniform... so maybe there is hope.
